About Pacaya Lodge & Spa

Pacaya Lodge & Spa is a 26-room lodge in Catarina, high on the rim of the Laguna de Apoyo Natural Reserve, between Granada and Masaya. Rooms are in eight casitas and the main building, all facing the crater lake. It has a pool, a Jacuzzi and a spa. Managua airport (MGA) is about 48 minutes by car.

Pacaya Lodge & Spa sits high on the rim of the Laguna de Apoyo Natural Reserve, in Catarina, roughly halfway between Granada and Masaya. The grounds look down through the forest canopy to the crater lake, and Granada and Lake Nicaragua show faintly beyond it. Eight casitas hold two king rooms each, and the main building has more rooms, 26 in all. Every one of them faces the lake.

A king room in a casita comes with its own bathroom, air conditioning and ceiling fans, plus a balcony and a hammock, and you can ask for the first or second floor. The Deluxe King Rooms have the best views of the grounds and Laguna de Apoyo. The Pacaya Suite has the lodge's finest crater lake view. Rooms in the main building have two double beds, which is handy for families traveling together.

The lodge has a restaurant, a pool, a Jacuzzi and a spa for massages and other treatments. It also runs outings from the property, among them a visit to the town of Catarina and a volcano hike. Furniture and art come from local artisans, and the lodge was developed with Opportunity International Nicaragua to support nearby communities.
