Hotel Casa San Francisco

A former family house, now a small hotel near Granada's convent

About Hotel Casa San Francisco

Casa San Francisco is a small boutique hotel in Granada's historic district, set in a former family residence diagonal from the Convento San Francisco. It has a pool, a rooftop terrace and Bocadillos, a tapas restaurant and bar. Rooms have air conditioning and a balcony or porch. Guests come by road from Managua airport (MGA), and the hotel plans transfers.

Casa San Francisco stands in the historic district of Granada, diagonal from the Convento San Francisco on Calle Corral. The house once belonged to a prominent local family and had fallen into semi-ruin when sisters Terry Leary and Nancy Bergman bought it in 2002, within three days of their first visit to the city. The hotel opened in 2004. Its name nods to the convent nearby and to the sisters' roots in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Rooms come in several layouts: twins for friends traveling together, queen rooms with kitchen facilities, and adjoining rooms that connect for families. Each has a private bathroom with hot water, air conditioning, cable TV and a balcony or porch. The hotel later grew into the property next door, which added more rooms.

Breakfast is served under cover beside the courtyard garden. Bocadillos, the tapas restaurant and bar attached to the hotel, has sofa seating indoors, garden tables, sidewalk tables and a rooftop patio, with small plates built on local ingredients. For the afternoon heat there is a pool, and the rooftop terrace is open for dining or relaxing. Massage and laundry services are available.
