Hotel Cacique Adiact is a family-run ecohotel in León's historic centre, about three and a half blocks from Parque Central. It has 17 rooms and apartments around a garden with a pool, plus a gym and a café-restaurant. Solar panels supply about 70% of its energy. The hotel can arrange a pickup from Managua airport.

Cacique Adiact has been open since March 2013, and the family that runs it lives in the house next to the garden. The hotel stands in León's historic centre, about three and a half blocks from Parque Central, so the old town is close at hand. Its name comes from Adiact, the chief of Sutiaba whom, by tradition, the Spanish hanged from a tamarind tree.

There are 17 units, from standard rooms to apartments with a living room. All have air conditioning, a safe, a desk and a balcony or terrace with a hammock, except room 4. The apartments, plus rooms 1 and 2, add a kitchenette with an induction hob. Room 12, on the second floor, is the one room that faces the pool. The two-bedroom apartments keep parents and children apart.

Breakfast is a buffet for guests, with eggs cooked to order and gallo pinto. After that, the café-restaurant by the entrance opens to the public with Nicaraguan coffee, pasta, sandwiches and, some days, nacatamales. On the roofs, 190 solar panels cover about 70% of the hotel's energy, and the hot water is heated by the sun too.

Good to know

Shade by the pool is scarce between about 11:00 a. m. and 2:00 p. m., so the garden and the rancho are the cooler spots then.
When you leave a room, a switch cuts its power, so the air conditioning stops and the room needs time to cool when you return.
Reception is staffed on weekdays from 7:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. and on weekends from 8:00 a. m. to 8:00 p. m.; a night guard covers the rest.

Does the hotel serve breakfast to guests?

Yes, a buffet runs from 7:00 a. m. to 9:30 a. m. for guests. Anyone leaving before 7:00 should tell reception the night before.

Can the hotel arrange a pickup from Managua airport?

Yes, it can collect you in Managua and take you back when you leave. If its own driver is busy, it arranges another one.

Is the pool suitable for children?

Children may swim only with a parent or another responsible adult watching. The deep end reaches 3 meters, so the pool suits swimmers.

Can I cook in the room?

In the apartments and in rooms 1 and 2, yes: they have a kitchenette with an induction hob and utensils for four people. The other rooms have no kitchen.
