City Centro by Marriott La Recoleccion sits at 1st Avenue NE and 2nd Street NW in León, two blocks from the cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The building is recent, completed in October 2017, yet it was drawn to fit the old city: arched doorways, shuttered windows and small balconies in the colonial manner. Step outside and the plaza, the museums and the bars and restaurants of the center are a short walk away.

Downstairs, Restaurante La Esquina has a dining room and a bar, and breakfast is part of the stay, with a grab-and-go option or a hot one. On the second floor, a small gym holds cardio and strength equipment for guests only. There is no pool, so the heat of the day is better spent in the shade of the old streets.

León is also the starting point for the coast. Poneloya and Las Peñitas are the beaches the hotel names as nearby, and on-site parking makes a drive there straightforward. A business center, meeting space and laundry are on the property too.
