Yemaya Reefs

Oceanfront rooms, a spa and Afro-Caribbean cooking on Little Corn

About Yemaya Reefs

Yemaya Reefs is a small beachfront hotel on the North End of Little Corn Island, Nicaragua. Its oceanfront rooms include some with a private plunge pool, and it has a spa, yoga and a restaurant serving Afro-Caribbean cooking. To get there, fly to Big Corn Island (RNI), then cross to Little Corn by boat.

Yemaya Reefs sits on the North End of Little Corn Island, where the last stretch of the journey is a boat ride from Big Corn. The rooms face the ocean and have king beds, a terrace and air conditioning. Some come with their own plunge pool, and one type sleeps four. Furnishings lean on local artisan textiles and a soft, even color scheme.

Meals are served on a restaurant deck over the Caribbean, daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The kitchen cooks Afro-Caribbean dishes around locally caught fish and vegetables from the hotel's own gardens. On the sand, a beachfront bar called the Rumboat mixes rum cocktails. The spa gives 60 or 90 minute massages, alone or as a couple, in a space with an outdoor jungle shower and a tub.

Days here are for the water: snorkeling and diving trips, fishing, sunset cruises, cooking classes, kayaks and paddleboards. There are no ATMs on the island, so bring cash. The hotel does not accept children under seven.
